Sunan Of Eating

01 Apr

Rasoolullah salalaho alayhi wasallam said ‘whosoever loves my sunnah loves me, and whoever loves me will be with me in jannah’ (Tirmidhi)

Imam Malik once said ‘the sunnah of Rasoolullah is like the ark of Nuh alayhis salam, whosoever follows it will be saved and whosoever neglects it will perish’

Another duaa which can be recited is: ‘Alhamdulillah hillathee huwa ashba’na wa arwana wa an ama alayna wa afdhala’ Which means ‘praise be to Allah who filled our stomachs, quenched our thirsts, rewarded us and gave us plentiful’ If this duaa is recited then there will be no accountability of the food eaten on the day of judgement

Another duaa is: ‘Allahumma baarik lana fihi wa at imna khayramm min’ Which means ‘oh Allah grant us blessings in it and grant us better than it’ (Tirmidhi)

Respected brothers and sisters, Almighy Allah has given us such a deen that Rasoolullah salalaho alayhi wasallam has set a guideline methodology for every action. If we simply adhere to the sunnah whilst eating then even our eating can become ibadah and we can gain reward simply by eating and drinking.

Rasoolullah salalaho alayhi wasallam said ‘Whoever adheres to my sunnah when my ummah is corrupt will have the reward of a hundred martyrs.’ May Allah enable us all to act upon this, ameen
